Spring is here and the end of the semester is approaching quickly!  The semester will end in just a couple weeks — hang in there and finish strong!  Hopefully you are progressing in your study of Intermolecular Forces, Liquids, and Solids in unit 5.  The topic for the upcoming week (and last topic) is Properties of Solutions.

Some updates and reminders for the upcoming week (and the rest of the semester)  are listed below:

The Unit 4 exams have been graded and grades posted in the D2L gradebook.  I will complete grading and return Quiz/Class participation 11 and return copies of your graded Unit 4 exams by the end of the weekend.  Please contact me with any questions about the grading or how to answer the questions themselves if you are struggling with any of the concepts.

Additional Study Resources

Don’t forget to look at the Unit 5 – additional study resources page on this Website.  It contains many resources to help you prepare for the exam.  Please take a look at them.  One of those resources is a practice exam.  Please read more about the practice exam below:

Practice Exam
What the practice exam is:

This practice exam will be similar in length, number of questions, types of questions (multiple choice, short answer, numerical problems, etc) to your exam.  The practice exam will be useful as a general review and will help you see how prepared you are.  If the practice exam (without looking at your notes) is easy for you, the actual exam probably will be.  If it is difficult, the actual exam probably will be.

What the practice exam is NOT:

The actual exam will NOT be the same as the practice exam with only a few numbers changed.  Do NOT think that if you only study and memorize the questions on the practice exam that you will be ready for the exam because the questions will be the same.

Final Exam

Detailed information for the final exam is listed at this link:Final Exam. Please read it carefully.  There are three major differences from the unit exams for the final exam:

  1. It is longer.  Please allocate 100 minutes to take it in the testing center.
  2. You are allowed to take a 3″ by 5″ index card with anything yoiu wish to write on it (2 sides, handwritten)
  3. The window for taking it ends on a Saturday ( available Tuesday 4/30 through Saturday 5/4), not Monday as the unit exams were.. If this provides undue difficulty for you, please contact me as soon as possible so we can make arrangements for you to take it Monday.  Any extensions beyond Monday 5/6 will require extenuating circumstances and will require that you receive an Incomplete grade for the course.
